The path God takes you on isn’t always clear at the time...I believe I was on a path that God brought me to doing bookkeeping at this time.
​
My career began in Information Technology, working in computer operations with large mainframe systems. During overnight shifts, boredom led me to start coding programs for fun, which eventually resulted in a promotion to computer programmer. That role provided a strong foundation in software development, database design, and system integration.
Managing IT projects further deepened my understanding of dependencies, task lists, and resource allocation. Experience as a loan originator introduced me to settlement statements, loans, escrows, taxes, insurance, and the complexities of real estate. Later, working in employee benefits sales expanded my knowledge of payroll, pre- and post-tax deductions, and employer tax responsibilities.
Since 2005, running my own business has given me firsthand experience in wearing multiple hats, analyzing balance sheets, and understanding income statements. Leading a chamber of commerce also provided insight into managing a volunteer organization. Every step along this path has been preparation—equipping me to help business owners understand their financials and use them as a tool to run their businesses more effectively.
